2011 Toyota Compact FR Sports - new rendering and infos

7Tune revealed new details regarding the future sports car developed in cooperation by Toyota and Subaru. And we will start with a bad new regarding the sports car set to be released in 2011, where will be no WRX or STi versions. A good news though: there might be a convertible version.

The sports car will be based on a 100mm shorter Subaru Legacy platform and will be powered by a 2.0L four cylinder boxer engine from the Impreza with a power output of 190 hp. A 6-speed gearbox will be offered initially with an automatic transmission being offered later. Weight is expected to be around 1200kg.

2011 TOYOTA SUPRA

Is there ever going to be a fifth generation of the Supra? Various reports have been announcing the coming of a mkV Supra first in 2005, then in 2008 (predicted to be powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5 liter V-6 2GR-FSE from GS350 Lexus, all-aluminum powerplant and expected to produce 350 bhp at 7000 rpm and about 290 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm, curb weight of about 3200 lb), and more recently the 2010 production year model rumored to come with the choice of a 450 hp V8 or a 3.7-liter 350 hp V6 and pricing ranging from $40,000 to $50,000. For now we have to just wait and see… below in red is an artist’s rendering of a 2010 Supra as reported by a japanese Best Cars magazine and in blue a 2011 Toyota Compact FR Sports (power expected to come from a 2.0-liter boxer four from Subaru, with between 190 and 200 horsepower sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission) as originally reported by Best Cars magazine and 7Tune.com, possibly selling under a Supra name in the UK.

TOYOTA AVALON 2011

On the way to conquering the universe, Toyota put a pill right down Buick’s stack. The languid Avalon, essentially a punched-out Camry with Lexus trappings, may not fascinate the street pilots who devour this magazine, but about 40,000 people are expected to lay down their greenbacks for one this year, and Toyota has a few minor changes to announce.

The fenders are new for 2011, raising the rear decklid for better aerodynamics and creating a more windswept face with a new grille at the center. A revised dash cages the instruments in separate, attractive binna­cles, and a large shingle of loss-luster plastic resembling brushed pewter contains the navigation system with its revamped con­trols. On the Limited, chrome slivers on the door handles and lower doors add a blaze of old-fashioned brightwork.

There are just two versions: the base Avalon and the Avalon Limited, tested here and now coming with standard leather and a sunroof. Otherwise, Toyota’s Arthurian super-Camry remains unchanged down to its six-speed automatic and 268-hp, 3.5-liter V-6, which delivers 60 mph in 6.6 seconds. That’s 0.3 second slower than our previous Avalon test car, but punch the gas in traffic, and the Avalon moves out. That’s all most Avalon drivers care about.

Expressway travel is a quiet, efficient affair, though the brakes have an abrupt light-switch feel and the steering is slow and somewhat lifeless in the middle, so you’re just a bit more active correcting the Avalon’s path as it’s disturbed by crosswinds and pavement changes. Perhaps the owner clin­ics reveal that Avalon buyers like to be reminded of their first high-school cars.

2011 Chevy Volt Is More Sportier Than Previous Designs

 Speaking of a sporty car, the General Motors (GM) is claiming that their 2011 Chevy Volt coup framework is “more sporty than either of the other vehicles” in the market today. The Volt is said to be the improvement design of Toyota Prius and Honda Insight.

The crew is in the middle of ironing out the details of this vehicle, but so far they make some changes to the external featured of the 2011 Chevy Volt.
